Meet Steph

Hi there! I’m Stephanie, my friends call me Steph and you can too!

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and after what feels like several lifetimes I’ve planted roots with my husband, our son and two dogs in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan. My husband was fortunate to grow up in TC and we knew we wanted to raise our family here.  We officially moved Up North July 2021 and are feeling settled on the West Side.

I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences from Oklahoma State University and really fell in love with nutrition and healthy living during my first nutrition job as a Nutritional Health Coach at Natural Grocers in New Mexico. I was exposed to the REAL FOOD movement and learned that food and healthy lifestyle choices are the oldest medicine.  This led me to learn more about functional medicine concepts.  It showed me disease states should be approached by looking at the cause and dysregulation in a person rather than just providing a pill.  Exposure to these functional medicine concepts also fueled my desire to further expand my education. As a result, I studied to become a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner from the Nutritional Therapy Association in 2016.

I was fortunate to serve as Functional Nutritionist at a busy functional medicine practice in Houston that focused on women’s health.  During this time, I worked alongside a board certified OBGYN and was able to effectively guide patients on a path of wellness specific to their individual needs. We primarily worked with women seeking to find hormonal balance to optimize fertility and various stages of a woman’s life.

In 2016, I decided to launch Unstressed Wellness, LLC! Now. I can effectively guide individuals and groups on the journey to wellness using the Unstressed Wellness model.  My office is set up so that I can see clients in person or all over the country via Skype, Zoom or phone consults.

On a more personal level, in my spare time you can find me goofing off with my family, gardening, reading about mindfulness and self-development, wandering somewhere outside or getting some beloved bodywork!  My travels overs the years have helped me find my love for different cultures and exploring; and I forever feel connected to the saying “not all who wander are lost”. small signature
